While most people spend time hiding cannabis from their kids and discouraging them from having anything to do with it whatsoever, as a cannabis nurse, hemp farmer and cannabis cultivator, my kids have a pretty different perspective on this remarkable plant.

Here on International Youth Day, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite kids and cannabis memories:

1) My son came to me very upset. He said he saw his grandfather smoking a cigarette. When I explained that it was a one hitter/glass piece of cannabis, his whole body relaxed! He was SO happy that it was cannabis and not nicotine. The look of relief that came over him was so amazing I had to giggle!

He even said he thought that would be better for his grandfather than the opioids and Xanax that Grandma used to need, and asked if we could get Grandma to use cannabis?

2) When I am having an intense migraine, I sometimes have to take a heavy dose of FECO (full extract cannabinoid oil). I always tell my kids so they know that I may get tired, and won’t be driving or doing other household chores.

In hopes of getting to stay up, eat, and play video games when I fall asleep, he often says, “Hey Ma, take some more!”

3) I took my then twelve year old son to the mall a few years back (which only happens every decade or so!) and he wanted to look at the CBD kiosk there. He went up to them to ask them how they extract and process ther hemp. They were not quite sure what he was asking.

He then, of course, proceeded to explain to them what he was asking and why. They still don’t understand or have an answer. He then asked them why they wouldn’t know this and why a twelve year old would knows more than them. Again ,they had no response. He got such a kick out of the fact that he has learned so much and feels he can help more than some of the industry professionals pushing sales, he asked if we could buy a kiosk! (No son, not today…)
