CBDa is the raw, unheated precursor of CBD. CBDa, also referred to as cannabidiolic acid, is the main cannabinoid found in the hemp plant, not CBD. CBD develops from CBDa over time, or when exposed to light, heat or when decarboxylated while processing into a concentrated extract or oil.

Recently more attention is being put on the raw acid forms of cannabinoids. Both THCa and CBDa are being researched to determine their unique health benefits.

Just like CBD, CBDa is non-impairing, has strong anti-inflammatory properties and can help people in very similar ways to how CBD has  been shown to help people. But there are some differences between the two cannabinoids that research is beginning to uncover.

CBDa has been shown to have:

  • A stronger response in the body than CBD in regard to seizures
  • A stronger anti inflammatory pain response
  • A stronger response to nausea & anxiety
  • Better absorption

One of the easiest ways to get more CBDa into your body is to take a product that has both CBD and CBDa, like NurseGrown Organics 5:1 CBD/CBDa oil.

If you have access to live hemp plants and want to experiment with the raw leaves to ingest the CBDa you can try juicing the flowers, buds or leaves or use them in salads.  For storage, you will want to keep the hemp in the refrigerator to help keep CBDa from slowly decarboxylating into CBD.

This powerful cannabinoid makes a wonderful addition to your already established cannabinoid therapeutics program.
